Privacy Policy

1. Privacy at a glance

General information

The following notes provide a simple overview of what happens to your personal data when you visit this website. Personal data is any data that can be used to personally identify you. Detailed information on the subject of data protection can be found in this privacy policy.

Data collection on this website

Who is responsible for data collection on this website?

Data processing on this website is carried out by the website operator. You can find their contact details in the “Information on the party responsible” section of this privacy policy.

How do we collect your data?

Your data is collected, on the one hand, when you provide it to me — for example via the contact form. Other data is collected automatically by the IT systems used when you visit the website. This is mainly technical data (e.g. web browser, operating system, or time of page access) and data for anonymous audience measurement.

Does this website use cookies?

No. This website does not set any cookies and does not store any information in your browser (e.g. local storage). Fonts, scripts, and images are delivered from my own server and are not loaded from third-party providers. A consent banner is therefore not required.

What do we use your data for?

Part of the data is collected to ensure error-free and secure provision of the website. Other data is used to analyze usage in anonymous form. Data from the contact form is used to process your request.

What rights do you have regarding your data?

You have the right at any time to receive information free of charge about the origin, recipient, and purpose of your stored personal data. You also have the right to request the correction or deletion of this data and the restriction of its processing, and you may object to the processing. You can contact me at any time using the contact details given in the legal notice if you have further questions on the subject of data protection. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority.

2. Hosting and encryption

Hosting with STRATO

This website is hosted by STRATO AG, Pascalstraße 10, 10587 Berlin, Germany (“STRATO”). The website runs on a server rented by me; the server log files and statistics data described in this policy are generated on that server. STRATO processes data solely on my behalf; I have concluded a data processing agreement with STRATO pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR.

The host is used in the interest of a secure, fast, and efficient provision of my online services by a professional provider (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR) and to fulfill my contractual obligations towards prospective and existing customers (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR).

TLS encryption

For security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, such as inquiries you send to me via the contact form, this site uses TLS encryption. You can recognize an encrypted connection by the fact that the address bar of your browser begins with “https://” and by the lock symbol in your browser bar.

3. General information and mandatory information

Information on the party responsible

The party responsible for data processing on this website is:

Gustav Friedeheim
Eburonenstraße 2
52531 Übach-Palenberg, Germany

Phone: +49 2451 6106363
Email: contact@letsconnectit.com

The responsible party is the natural or legal person who, alone or jointly with others, determines the purposes and means of the processing of personal data.

Storage period

Unless a more specific storage period is stated within this privacy policy, your personal data will remain with me until the purpose for data processing no longer applies. If you assert a legitimate request for deletion, your data will be deleted, unless I have other legally permissible reasons for storing your personal data (e.g. tax or commercial retention periods); in the latter case, deletion takes place after these reasons cease to apply.

Your rights

Within the framework of the applicable statutory provisions, you have the right at any time:

  • to receive information free of charge about your stored personal data, its origin and recipients, and the purpose of the data processing (Art. 15 GDPR),
  • to have inaccurate data corrected (Art. 16 GDPR),
  • to have your data deleted (Art. 17 GDPR),
  • to have the processing restricted (Art. 18 GDPR),
  • to data portability, i.e. to receive data that I process automatically on the basis of your consent or in performance of a contract in a commonly used, machine-readable format (Art. 20 GDPR).

To do so, you can contact me at any time using the contact details given in the legal notice.

Right to object to data collection in special cases and to direct marketing (Art. 21 GDPR)

Where data processing is based on Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, you have the right to object to the processing of your personal data at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. The respective legal basis on which processing is based can be found in this privacy policy. If you object, I will no longer process the personal data concerned, unless I can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing that override your interests, rights, and freedoms, or the processing serves the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims.

Right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority

In the event of violations of data protection law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority. The competent supervisory authority is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia (Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen), Postfach 20 04 44, 40102 Düsseldorf, Germany, www.ldi.nrw.de.

4. Data collection on this website

Server log files

When you visit this website, the web server operated by me automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically transmits. These are:

  • IP address
  • Date and time of the server request
  • Requested page or file (URL) and response status code
  • Amount of data transferred
  • Referrer URL (the previously visited page)
  • Browser type and version and operating system used (user agent)

This data is not merged with other data sources. It is collected on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. I have a legitimate interest in the technically error-free presentation, the security (defense against attacks and abuse), and the optimization of my website — the server log files must be collected for this purpose. The log files are automatically deleted after approximately 14 days.

Audience measurement with GoatCounter

I use the software GoatCounter for anonymous audience measurement. GoatCounter is installed on my own server (stats.letsconnectit.com); no data is passed on to third parties. GoatCounter does not set cookies and does not store any information in your browser.

The following is recorded: the page visited, the referring page, the time of the visit, browser and operating system (only as derived information, not the full user agent), the screen width, and the country derived from the IP address. To combine several page views of the same visit, a randomly generated session ID is also stored. The IP address itself is not stored by GoatCounter; it is only used briefly in memory (the assignment to a session is held there for up to 8 hours). The statistics data is deleted after 12 months at the latest.

The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. My legitimate interest lies in analyzing the use of my website in order to improve content and structure. Since no information is accessed on or stored in your device, no consent under Section 25 of the German TDDDG is required.

Contact form

If you send me inquiries via the contact form, your details from the inquiry form (name, email address, company if given, and your message) will be stored by me for the purpose of processing the inquiry and in case of follow-up questions. I do not share this data without your consent, with the exception of the technical forwarding by email described below.

The processing of this data is based on Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR, provided your request is related to the fulfillment of a contract or is necessary for the implementation of pre-contractual measures. In all other cases, the processing is based on my legitimate interest in the effective processing of inquiries addressed to me (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).

The data you enter in the contact form will remain with me until you ask me to delete it or the purpose for storing the data no longer applies (e.g. after your request has been fully processed). Mandatory statutory provisions — in particular retention periods — remain unaffected.

Technical handling of the contact form

The contact form is processed by a program of my own on the server I operate (see “Hosting with STRATO”); no external form services are embedded. When you submit the form, your entries are transmitted to this server and forwarded from there by email to my mailbox contact@letsconnectit.com. Both sending and the mailbox use email accounts at STRATO (sender address contact-form@letsconnectit.com). The program does not store your message and does not write any content to log files.

To protect against automated submissions (spam), your IP address is held only transiently in memory in order to limit the number of submissions per time period; it is not written to any storage medium and is discarded when the program restarts. In addition, a form field that is invisible to humans and the time of your page view are evaluated; the time is not stored. Submitting the form also creates the entry in the web server’s log files described above. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) or (f) GDPR (handling your request and protection against abuse). The form itself does not transmit any data to services outside the EU. If you prefer not to use the form, you can contact me by email or phone at any time.

Inquiries by email or phone

If you contact me by email or phone, your inquiry, including all resulting personal data, will be stored and processed by me for the purpose of handling your request. I do not share this data without your consent.

Referral links to Synesty

On the page about my Synesty services, I use referral links to synesty.com. When you click one, you are forwarded to the website of Synesty GmbH (Jena, Germany); the referral ID is part of the link address. No data is transmitted to Synesty from my website as long as you do not click the link. After clicking, Synesty processes data (such as your IP address and the referral ID) as an independent controller; Synesty’s privacy policy applies.

Language notice

Depending on your browser’s language setting, the home page shows a notice about the respective other language version. The language setting is read exclusively locally in your browser for this purpose; it is neither transmitted to me or to third parties nor stored.
